Chair Cushions

Add a pop of color to plain chairs by adding patterned or solid colored chair cushions to your dining room chairs. Just remember to buy a few extra in case they become worn or permanently stained.

Hang Artwork

Many times we take great care with decorating the walls in our living room, bedroom, and even bathroom but dining room walls tend to get a little less love. If you want to update your dining room in a hurry, hanging a brand new piece of artwork, a print, tapestry or photo collage is a great way to accomplish that.

Augment with an Area Rug

Area rugs are a great way to increase that warm homey feel in your dining room. Keep in mind that if you do decide to purchase a new area rug always buy one that is 18 to 24 inches beyond the edge of the table on all sides to allow the feet of all the chairs to remain on the rug when they’re pulled away from the table.

Update Your Linens

If your table needs some sprucing up, swap out your table linens! This super quick dining room update can change the character and mood of your dining room in an instant, and when you shop smart it’s a pretty budget friendly upgrade.

Add Trim For a Finishing Touch

Remember what I said about dining room walls getting less love? Well, if you want to add some simple architectural details to your dining room walls, adding a simple chair rail or crown molding give your dining room an instant boost of sophistication.  If molding seems like too much of a hassle, you can always use paint to give the same effect by doing a band of color on the walls or around your windows.
